Inflatable Land Shelter Demonstrator, CRYSTAL January 2012 – August 2012 Team: SOBRIETY, Space Innovations, International Space University Principles of inflatable structure are demonstrated in research on inflatable land or sea borne rescue systems and by fabrication of inflatable habitat demonstrator and simulator CRYSTAL that can serve short term simulations. The inflatable systems have great potential to fill a gap in domains of rapidly deployable structures thanks to their very high packing ratio. Such structures have though low technology readiness level and though require more attention and resources for their implementation in the real world scenario. Fundamental research on inflatable systems has been successfully completed proving their efficiency, robustness and possibility of implementation in hybrid structures. |
