SHED Research Program 2011 – 2017 Teams: Crystal: SOBRIETY, Space Innovations, International Space University I.L.S.D.: Nathan Wong, Ondrej Doule, Milan Cermack, Vratislav Saleny S.H.E.E.: Space Innovations, COMEX, LIQUIFER, Space Application Services, SOBRIETY, University of Tartu, International Space University XV06 – Space Innovations, KVK Technology Self-deployable Habitats for Education and Development (SHED) Research Program was established to enhance a very important area of architecture of deployable and self-deployable habitats. This program addresses an unexplored area of foldable and deployable living space with integrated functions for short term living in nominal or extreme terrestrial environment. A particular emphasis is given to small living spaces for two people with partial capability to generate power and filter (heat or cool) the internal habitat atmosphere. The SHED Program should help develop architectural techniques and principles to design shelters for rapid deployment in extreme environments or in areas where natural disasters have occurred. The SHED Program also addresses space habitats designed to perform in gravity driven environments (Moon, Mars). |
